Madison Railroad operates a 25-mile mainline extending from Madison to North Vernon, Indiana. Daily train service is available and interchange is accomplished with CSX Transportation at North Vernon. In addition to the mainline railroad, the Madison Railroad owns and operates 17 miles of railroad track within a 3,400-acre industrial park, offering a team track and railcar storage facilities.
As a shortline, Madison Railroad provides flexible service. Madison Railroad hauls a variety of commodities, including polyethylene, coal by-products and steel. Industrial Development
Railroad headquarters are located in a 3,400 acre industrial park, formerly known as Jefferson Proving Ground. Madison Railroad is dedicated to working with the business community to enhance industrial and economic development throughout our region. We understand economic development initiatives and complexities and work closely with the Madison-Jefferson County Industrial Development Corporation (MIDCOR) to attract industry to the area. A number of rail-served sites are still available.
